I could never have imagined six years later that All About the Pretty would still be here. At the time I started blogging it was still looked down upon. It is hard to imagine that today, but blogging wasn’t what it is now. I remember my first fashion week and it was like blogger what? It is amazing how times have changed. So much of my life changed in 2006. My oldest brother died in January and it set off something in me. That was not a great way to start a year. I knew something in my life had to change, but I didn’t know what. Then my doctor recommended yoga to deal with the depression. That brought me to Kimberly (who’s equally obsessed with Paris as I am) and Tranquil Space Yoga (my family outside of Texas and Louisiana). Yoga opened up the creative spark that I so desperately needed at the time.
In March 2006, I met Tia Williams of Shake Your Beauty at a journalism panel at Howard University. I remember telling her “I travel to Paris to buy my beauty.” Seriously. BTW, Tia is back to blogging so let’s thank the beauty gods for this. She told me “start a blog.” So, I did. This small revelation and meeting would lead to this site. Here I am six years later – many trips to Paris under my beauty belt (I will be there in May), a wife, traveler, yogi, entrepreneur, half-way through a 200 hour yoga teacher certification, and still dreaming of more. What blogging has done for me is brought some amazing people into my life and I am thankful for each and every one of them. I’m a lucky girl.
To my lovely readers. Thank you for being here – reading, commenting, emailing, and supporting All About the Pretty. Life is still beautimous (beautiful + glamorous) six years later. Thank you for allowing me to expand and grow in beauty.
