About Me

Julia Coney, is the creative mind behind the successful All About the Pretty: A Southern Girl's Guide to All Things Beautimous website. Julia started the site in March 2006, because of her intense love of beauty products. The site comprises musings of beauty as a lifestyle and not just a product. Its readership is a community of smart, savvy, articulate and intelligent individuals from all walks of life.

Since starting on her All About the Pretty (AATP) journey, she has been fortunate to meet many of her idols in the skincare, cosmetic, hair and fragrance communities. Through the site, she discusses her likes and dislikes with her own first hand knowledge of various cosmetic, fragrance, skincare and hair care lines ranging from drugstore brands to niche brands found all over the world.

Julia decided in 2009 to incorporate her other loves for travel, yoga, food, and wine into her writing by developing: Destination Pretty, designed to educate readers about various travel options available to them for weekend and extended trips in the US and abroad; Reading Pretty, introducing readers to various books from the classics to fashion and everything in between; Om Pretty, introduces readers to yoga and self-love; and her newest edition Feasting Pretty, introducing readers to the various restaurants and wines discovered locally and during her travels.

In addition to the AATP site, Julia is a contributing writer/reviewer and member to other web based publications and boards, such as: BlackAtlas.com a site dedicated to the affluent African-American traveler, Daily Makeover Beauty Bloggerati, the DC Beauty Examiner, and The Fairest Blog. Moreover, the AATP site has been featured in such publications as The Washington Post, Texas Monthly, Glamour Magazine, Women's Wear Daily, a Celebrity Cruise advertisement and Essence.com.

Julia is a native of the South - born in Louisiana and raised in Houston, Texas. She has been living in the Nation's Capital for about 4 years were she works by day as a full-time Intellectual Property Legal Assistant, and an obsessed beauty, travel, spa, yoga and foodie junkie by night. In her spare time she enjoys life, travel, wine, art, anything French, movies, sports, books, culture, food, and spending time with “The Don.”
