I love working at the yoga studio for many reasons. I am able to surround myself with strong and positive women and Joanna is just a barrel of laughs and information. She informs me that I MUST check out the gift with purchase from Trish McEvoy at Neimans Beauty Week. Of course, I didn't actually go into NM for beauty week. I made a phone call. I told her I would think about it. I had lots of thoughts on my way to NM in Tysons and the main thought was "turn this car around." Every time I try to be good the beauty industry keeps pulling me back. I vowed to be good, but the color of this lip gloss was too gorgeous to pass up. That's why it's called Gorgeous Pink by Trish McEvoy. I could see myself mixing and matching this with every other color I have. I picked up my favorite Wild Blueberry No. 9 candle (2), Blackberry Fragrance No. 9 for mom and I and a Glycolic Face Wash (LOVE THIS STUFF). I need to have a little more beauty patience. But pretty won't let me wait.
Sarah Jessica Parker is back, on the cover that is, of Marie Claire's October 2006 issue. I am still in love with her scent Lovely. It will definitely remain one of my top perfume buys. If you haven't heard, MC is changing it's image to become a magazine for strong, smart, intelligent and diverse women. Everything All About the Pretty represents. I received an email from a reader who pointed this out so well. [Her quote, not mine.] "Marie Claire has been revamped and it has everything a woman could want in a magazine. It is truly a one stop shop magazine with culture, international news, fashion, beauty, etc. and it is well worth the bucks and since In Style is on the decline (their editor went to People), everyone is searching for the next great magazine and Marie Claire just might be IT." It all started with the September issue of the magazine. The new editor vowed to change things and from her second head of the magazine I see the difference. A subscription might be in order. I also love that the magazine is double sided with the beauty part on a different side from the articles. Awesome idea.
I'm also loving the gold dress Queen Latifah is wearing on the cover of Essence's October 2006 issue. Her makeup is always flawless, thanks to her long-time makeup artist, Roxanne Floyd. I understand I am a little late on posting about her Queen Collection for Cover Girl. I wanted to wait until I at least saw the collection and/or tried it. Here is my recent fascination. The Lip Glosses in Plum Platinum and Sugar and Spice; the Moisturizing Lip Color in Ruby Remix (fabulous red wine color) and Peach Spice. Although the collection may be for women of color there are colors for women of ANY color. I found a few lip shades that my fair skin ladies will love. Look at the lip glosses in Premier Pink and Plush Pink and Moisturizing Lip colors in Starlet Sand and Plush Pink.
Q&A: Patty asked how often do I exfoliate. Once a week. I prefer to do it on Sunday. A few days later on Wednesday, I try to do a body mask. I know that the exfoliation my grandmother taught me is just as great as the ones you can buy. It may not have a scent, but the results are amazing. I could probably do it everyday since the products aren't expensive and aren't harsh on the body. I haven't ever considered creating the products then storing them for later, but that seems like a great thing for me to think about.
Jones New York has the cutest tee shirt designed by Sujean Rim to benefit Jones New York in the Classroom. Sujean is the designer behind the ever so cute Daily Candy. In a few days a Pretty Philanthropy II regarding what we should be buying to support National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.
Project Runway is getting down to the wire. I still want a dress from Michael Knight. I love him.

Hello Julia,
What body mask do you use? Your skin is so beautiful

I LOVE Michael Knight - he's my favoite by far on Project Runway. He was so overlooked in the beginning of the show, but I'm glad you won those few challenges in the middle. I'm rooting for him to win!!

I was wondering what was going on with InStyle!
And trust me, I feel your beauty-keeps-calling-me-back pain! I just can't quit :)
