My mother is on her way to the airport to fly to DC to see me for Christmas. I am so excited. My girlfriend Audra calls my mother the "potion lady," because although my mother isn't a makeup junkie she has never met a lotion or perfume she didn't really care for. Therefore, in honor of mom's visit and the Christmas holidays we are spending Christmas Eve in New York. We plan to stroll arm-n-arm to see the lights and beautiful store windows, Rockefeller Center, ice skating and Serendipity. But the hightlight, yes the highlight, is my mother is a born SHOPPER. She can go and go like the Energizer bunny. We have our favorite shops to hit: for beauty are the three B's. Bergdorf, Bendels and Barneys. It's also Takishimaya, Sephora on 5th and Times Square. I hope that if I beg really hard enough (ha! ha!) she might give in and get me something new by Davi Skincare to try. We plan to hit Macys, Bloomingdales and the side street vendors for colorful pashmina wraps. I can never get enough of those wraps.
I know today is the first day of winter. I want to thank my good friend Michael, who informed me when I told him I would be focusing on the Spring makeup to review in NY. Michael thought I have gone mad, but this is the way retail works. Men, you know they just don't get it.
I hope everyone is having a very pretty and Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday.

Julia, I'm from Brooklyn, I'll be home there as well and yep I plan on visiting a few of your spots as well. Do you ever got to BKLYN. Check out Fort Greene, Fulton street, not a lot of beauty stores (except Carol's Daughter), but great boutiques. Have a great time! and Happy Holidays

Heather, are you going to be able to make it to Manhattan to see the lights. We are really just going to hang out and do some mother-daughter bonding which always involves shopping and lots of laughing.

I'll be in New York for Christmas too! But I'll be at my Aunt's on Long Island Christmas Eve.
