Mom left this weekend and though I am deeply saddened, but I was able to get some rest. Mom can go. That's the one thing I love about her visiting, she never gets tired when I drag her from DC to Virginia to Maryland and back. She is up for anything. We must have hit nearly 7 Marshalls and TJ Maxx's in the Tri-State area. It was so much fun. New shoes, new clothes, new fabulous 800 thread count sheets at bargain prices. Her visits make me miss home.
One store I will always miss is Walgreens. I love the fact that you can pick up a prescription anywhere in the US with any Walgreens pharmacy and don't have to call each pharmacy separate like you do with CVS. New York even has a Walgreens, but not DC. I know CVS has something similar, but since I'm not a fan I'm totally biased. I know this isn't the best way to be. So we high tail it to Glen Burnie just so I can see the European Collection that is set up there. (This gives me a reason to get to G&M Seafood for some really good crab cakes. ) They have products from France, Switzerland, Spain and Germany. I had a fabulous time picking up the the Oli Anti-Aging Daily Moisturizer SPF 25, Art Deco Caviar Lifting Serum, Spa Aquatique Regenerating Scrub and Tensing Mask, and La Fleur Organique Day Cream (fabulous). For mom, we picked the Arnaud Institute's Extreme Anti-Aging Cream in the Night Formula, Arnaud Eye and Lip Anti-Wrinkle Cream, Skincode's SOS Instant Radiance Serum and Red Water's 24 Hour Face Cream with Pomegranate. We are both obsessed with pomegranate anything now especially the juice and teas. This is a great concept so people who don't live near a large skin can have great European skincare. If you are near a Walgreens you have to check it out. It's also available on line.
I would like to thank everyone for the great comments on my Best of Beauty 2006 list. I really appreciate it. Juliana, I do use Bobbi's Hydrating Eye Cream, but I rotate it with my Olay Regenerist Eye Cream for day. I try to use my heavier and more potent eye cream at night. I believe that's when the products targeted for aging work best when your cells are being replenished at the end of the night. It doesn't hurt if I'm able to get 8 wonderful hours of sleep either.
I hope everyone is having an awesome new year. Yesterday was a great and lazy day filled with organizing, chatting with friends and family, reading, napping, cooking and eating. In my organizing process I decided to take a photo of my beauty loot. I am definitely my grandmother's granddaughter. The top shelf is lotions, sprays and skincare, the middle two are cosmetics (whoa JC) and the last are my body butters and extra bath products. This does NOT include the stuff in the bathroom. I thought the readers would get a kick out of this. There's nothing like a picture to really put things in perspective.
Have a great and pretty day.

American drugstores do provide a pharmacy, but most also sell books,
magazines, small electronics, food, personal care products, toys... In
other words, they are general stores that also fill prescriptions.
What is such a store called in ENglish by Europeans?

I'm surrounded by Walgreens and CVS. I've been meaning to take some time and check out the European Collection but each time I've been in Walgreens lately I was running in to grab a few things and rushing back out. I'll stop after work and check out the line.

Julia! Of course your beauty products are the most organized on the planet! You crack me up! I am on my way to the Walgreens in Mill Valley - I put in my zip code, and they carry the European Collection! I will be stopping by after work!
Happy New Year!

You know, when I was in town in November, I saw that the CVS in Georgetown (Wisconsin and 35th) looks like a French pharmacie now. I was a little taken back at first. I guess this is something they are doing now since you saw it in another CVS.
