Estee Lauder knows how to keep moving progressively in the beauty business. Aerin Lauder is reinventing Private Collection. I love this idea because I have admired those Lauder women from afar for so long. For me Private Collection is my mother. Every year my father bought her the pure parfum bottle, powder, lotion, body cream and a spray eau de parfum for travel. I remember as a little girl I would sneak and use it when she wasn't home at night after my bath. I would hold the bottle in my hands, take the top and put it on my pulse points just like I was taught. When she would come in to check on me and to pray over me I remember she always said "God, bless my baby who sneaks my perfume." I would always wake up giggling and tell her how I just wanted to smell like her.
My brothers and I have tried to keep up since he passed, but they stopped making it. If I did find a bottle I always picked it up. Although they are tweaking the original, the new scent will add tuberose gardenia. I know my mom will love this and because my mom is so wonderful and fabulous I'm going to get her the ENTIRE line - 1 oz pure perfume, eau de parfum spray, solid perfume compact with precious stones, and body cream - basically I could care what it costs, she's going to have them. Whatever mommy wants she will get. I can't wait. I'll be able to purchase them when I'm home visiting in August when it's launched from my beloved Juanita.
Avon: Christian Lacroix has created two new scents for Avon. Christian Lacrox Rouge for women and Noir for men.
Bobbi always seems to do it for me with those shimmer bricks and the new Shimmer Brick in Sandstone looks perfect for eyes. I plan to use some of the colors as highlighters under the brow bone and in the corner of the eyes. I'll swipe my blender brush on tops for a highlight on the cheeks as well. This is definitely the "sand" that I'm bringing to the beach next week.
Ayuz un joli week-end (Have a pretty weekend)

Ah, the perfume. I'm sorry, I did notice that the concentrations on the site were unusual but it didn't register with me. That's really unfortunate. I'm glad they're bringing out the new version; gardenia sounds lovely.

Thanks Kuri. I looked and the problem is they don't have the true parfum only the sprays. I wish they had the true parfum. Oh well, what can we do.

Just a comment on Private Collection: I read a blog (nowsmellthis) where there was a comment that Estee Lauder doesn't discontinue fragrances although they don't put out testers of the older stuff. Private Collection does appear to be available on gloss.com under The Classics. Perhaps they just hold onto the stock until it's sold?

Thanks for your answer!
Turns out I'm allergic to the stuff... I think because of bismuth oxychloride :(
I got a terrible rash.
So now I'm letting it heal and will go back to my MAC studio fix fluid.
Still love your blog!! :-)

Charlotte, I've never used Bare Escentuals because the color would make me look ashy, but I know a lot of women like. Toya looks great in it. I use the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Powder which she suggested and it works well. If you like the BE, stick with it. I do understand the mineral makeup concept and I'm happy to see different price points for the product. So far, my powder is working very well. I hope this helps.

Julia-Willdo! I'll let you know when I go back. Probably for Mother's Day to pick something up for myself.:)
Kia-when I was in the one in Gsffney the SA told me that there is one in Concord( above Charlotte) at this really popular outlet called Concord Mills. I was shocked that I was close to one back when I live up there! But then again I'm not a big outlet chick.

I wear #4 Radiant Toffee, I totally spelled the product name wrong it's ---Yves Saint Laurent 'Touche Éclat' Radiant Touch. I think I may be just a tad bit darker than you, so check out #3 and well, but per my friend a make-up artist, #4 is for brown skin.
I love this product. I use it under my eyes and on my brow bone, aroung my nose and lips.
Let me know if you like it.

Tarshel, that is too funny. Yes, we need to help mom out with a new scent. We must girlfriend, we must. I haven't used the pen, I didn't even know about it. Thanks for giving me the info. Do you think I can use the pen. Which color do you think I should use? Let me know when you can, thanks.

Hi Julia,
My mom never wore Estee Lauder, she is a Opium and White Diamond lady. But, now I'm gonna get her a bottle of the Private Collection and see if she will stop White Diamond (this has been her obsession since 1990's, Opium was when I was a kid)
Also have you tried YSL Eclat Touch brightening pen. I'm in love with that "clicker" it really helps brighten my eye area, somedays I can use it without concealer.

What a cute Estee Lauder story. Every woman in my family has worn Youth Dew religiously since the beginning of time. It was the first perfume I ever wore when I was like 10...a 10 year old walking around smelling like I was 60!!! Someone even told me once, "Hey Regina, you smell like my grandmom!!" After that I started wearing Jean Nate or Loves Baby Soft!!!

I bought the Azuree Oil and Skincent. Love em!

JAF thank you for your comments. I called my mom very early this morning to tell her about the PF. Her response "well when are you getting it for me" and she's not happy having to wait until August.
I am trying to hold off by some of the Azuree because I just got all this stuff to help me "brown better" in Miami next week. I know it's out, but I haven't seen it yet. I might have to wait until I get back from a trip next week to see it in full splendor. I want the oil, but since I just had to buy a new Nars Body Glow, I'm going to have to wait.

The news about Private Collection is very interesting! I used to work at a Lauder counter, and though PC just melted into a patchouli horror on me, it smelled lovely on other people.
Also, the Tom Ford Azuree Soleil color is on counter (at least at the Nordstrom's Tysons)!
I love this blog!
