Beauty News: 06/12/09

Here is this week's beauty news.  I hope everyone has a lovely and beauty-filled weekend. A bientot.

• Avon and Reese Witherspoon are ready to launch In Bloom by Reese Witherspoon.  The scent is due out in November.  (I'm all over this).

• Kerastase is launching Oleo-Relax Slim for thick, rebellious, and dry hair.  A kit containing Creme Oleo-Relx Slim, Masque Oleo-Relax Slim, and Balm Oleo-Relax Shampoo.

• Michelle Dermaceuticals is launching a teen skin care line called The Clear Skin Anthology.

• Calvin Klein is releasing ckfree for men in September.  The scent has notes of juniper berry, absinthe, tobacco leaves, and patchouli.

• Besame Cosmetics has launched a lip-plumping.  Voluptuous Lip Color Sets include lip color, lip pencil, and lip brush.  The colors are Red Velvet, Rapture Rose, & Champagne.

• Sula Beauty will release a nail polish that you can peel off.  The Paint & Peel Polish comes in 15 shades.

• Banana Republic has created The Republic Collection to be released in the fall.  The Republic for Men has notes of sambac, sage, basil, and sandalwood.  The Republic for Women has notes of bergamot, pink jasmine, Moroccan rose, and musk.

• Brow Expert - Damone Roberts - has collaborated with OPI on a namesake nail lacquer that will be available at his salons in NY & LA and also Amazon.com in August.  The color is a mint green that is found in his salons.

• Tom Ford in all is glorious beauty is launching a four-fragrance White Musk Collection in September.  The collection will be part of his Private Blend.  The scents are Jasmine Musk, Urban Musk, Musk Pure, and White Suede. 

• Lancome will release Hypnose Senses for women later this month. Hynose Senses has notes of vanilla, tonka bean, honey, and chypre.

• Sebastian will release Liquigel Texturizer and Matte Putty for hair.  The liquigel is for hold and form and the putty is for touchable hold.

• Liz Earle, the insanely great skin care line, will launch Superskin Eye and Lip Treatment in September. I'm all over this.

Here's the first beauty news of the summer.

• CHANEL has opened a Beauty Shop in Tokyo.  It’s dedicated to fragrance and beauty.
• Tigi has launched its first eco-friendly hair care line – Love, Peace, & the Planet.
• The men’s grooming brand Billy Jealousy has launched Liquid Sand.  It’s an alpha hydroxy infused facial scrub.
• Laura Prairie has added to its Platinum Collection with Cellular Serum Platinum Rare.
• Rochas has introduced Eau Sensuelle, a classic scent that that borrows from Eau de Rochas that was created in the 70s.  The scent has notes of blood orange, bergamot & mango.
• Clarins is replacing a few staples in its Bust Beauty range.  Extra Lift Gel and Firming Lotion will replace the existing units. 
• Miller Harris has added a unisex scent called Fleurs de Bois, which is described as floral and woody. 
• Carolina Herrera’s latest scent CH Carolina Herrera will launch at Nordstrom in July and they will have a 2 month exclusive on the fragrance.  It rolls out to major department stores in July.
• Shiseido is launching Futre Solution LX – a high-tech anti-aging skin care line.
• Maybelline is introducing 48 new shades of lipstick for their Color Sensational line
• Michael Kors will introduce Very Hollywood in September.  The scent has notes of bergamot, mandarin, ylang-ylang, jasmine, gardenia, and raspberry.
• Express will launch its men’s fragrance called Express Reserve in July
• Benefit Cosmetics is launching Crescent Row a trio of scents in July.
• Dolce & Gabbana are launching D&G Fragrance Anthology, which will include 5 fragrances and will launch in September.
• The last tribute in the Estee Lauder Private Collection scents hit stores in July - Estee Lauder Private Collection Jasmine White Moss. 
• Marc Jobs is launching a new fragrance – Lola in August.  The scent has notes of vanilla, musk, grapefruit, peony, and rose.
• Josie Natori will introduce Natori, her latest scent in the fall.  The scent is exclusive to Saks for 3 months beginning August 3.
• Armani introduces Idole d’Armani as a tribute to his many muses.  The collection will arrive in stores in September.  The scent has notes of clementine, pear, ginger, and patchouli.
• Nicole Miller will release Frenzy, a new prestige fragrance in August.  Frenzy has notes of orange, gardenia, ylang-ylang, and violet leaf. 
• Henri Bendel’s has just opened FunctionaLab in its store.  This is an in-store boutique for personalized analysis.
• Essie’s new collection inspired by Judith Ripka (love her jewelry) will have one bottle of polish that contains a diamond, sapphire, or emerald.
• Lea Journo will introduce her new hair care line with includes a glossing cream, finishing spray, shampoo, and conditioner.

Max Factor to Stop U.S. Sales Beginning 2010

Ladies, this just in.  It makes me so sad to even type this, but Max Factor will stop its U.S. Sales in early 2010.  It will continue to sale it globally.  This is so crazy because Max Factor is so old Hollywood glamour. 

A little history on the brand.  It was founded in 1909 by Maximilian Faktorowicz.  In the 1920s and 1930s Max Factor was associated with Hollywood.  It was the makeup for movies.  Think Judy Garland, Joan Crawford, Jean Harlow, and Bette Davis to name a few of the movie legends that wore the makeup. Here's a great writeup on the history on Wikipedia.  I'm still a fan of the original 2000 Calorie Mascara with the curved brush.  It will be missed in the beauty arsenal.

L'Oréal Paris Double Extend Beauty Tubes Mascara.  This L’Oreal breakthrough technology called “tubing” has two steps.  The mascara recreates the look of lash extension.  This mascara doesn’t flake, because of the fibers that grab the lash. 

 

Beauty News: 03/13/09

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend.  Now let's get to the beauty news.

• MD Skincare's Natural body Care line will include five products. Antioxidant Enzyme Buff, Creamy Cleansing Polish, Hydrating Body Emulsion, Botanical Bar, and Purifying Bath Crystals.  I'm headed out this weekend to find these products.  I can't wait to try them.
• Celine Dion's new scent Chic makes it debut in April after the end of her Taking Chances world tour.  The scent has notes of gardenia, lotus flower, violet, sandalwood, and musk.
• Gap is launching Close- it's first signature scent for women in April.  Close is described as a "salty floral citrus scent with notes of fresh almond blossom, jasmine petals, stephanotis, musk, amber and vanilla."
• Talika is launching a topical bust serum in April.  It's supposed to "lift, firm, and add volume to breasts by stimulation fat production."
• Diptyque, one of my favorite candle purveyors will introduce,L'Art du Soin (Art of Body Care) a five piece bath and body collection.  I'm all over this entire collection.
• Hermes is launches a new collection called Les Colognes Hermes in May that is unisex.  (I'm already salivating over these scents.) The scents were created by Hermes perfumeur Jean-Claude Ellena.  Eau de Pamplemousse Rosehas notes of orange, grapefruit, and vetiver.  Eau de Gentiane Blanche has notes of iris, gentian, and white musk.  Eau d'Orange Verte combines lemon, orange, and mandarin with patchouli to get its scent. 
• Victorinox Swiss Army Inc. will debut its first fragrance called Swiss Unlimited for men.  It will be in the U.S. in August.
• Guerlain has collaborated with Didier Ludo, the Parisian couture collector to createLa Petite Robe Noire(The Little Black Dress) fragrance.  The scent has notes of patchouli, rose, almond, and Sicilian lemon.  The scent will only be available in Guerlain's Paris boutiques with roll out to the U.S. later.
• Shu Uemura Art of Hair has launched Prime Plenish for weakened hair.  The line targets softness, a healthy scalp, and hair density.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. Here's the latest in beauty news.

• Guerlain will launch Rouge G de Guerlain a 25 piece lipstick line created by the house's creative director, Olivier Echaudemaison, and Place Vendome jeweler Lorenz Baumer in April.  This lipstick compact comes with a built-in mirror.  It will retail for $45. I'm curious how well this will do in the U.S. given our economic issues. 

• Ojon is expanding its line with bath and body products Triabal Indulgences Batana is a paraben and sulfate free product line and includes for now a shower
  gel and a body cream.

• Issey Miyake is entering the skincare market with La Creme de L'Eau by Issey Miyake.  The creamed is an antiaging product based on mineral rich water from a spring on the Japanese island of Kyushu.

• Bumble and bumble has two new gels. Gel and Gellac are products for two different looks.  Gel was designed for flexibility and natural shine, while Gellac is for extreme hair holding. 

• Bvlgari is bringing its skincare line to this U.S. this bring.  The line is composed of 15 items.

• Vera Wang is releasing Vera Wang Rock Princess with notes of white peach, bergamot, lily and musk.  the fragrance will launch in April.

• Bliss is launching Best of Skintentions, a new lower priced moisturizer for all skin types.

• Natascha McElhone has been tapped as brand ambassador for the facial moisturizer and treatments division of Neutrogena.

Happy Friday everyone.  It's a big weekend here as you know so I'm leaving you with much beauty news. I'm off Monday and Tuesday, but I will still have posts up. Have a Happy Weekend of Change!

• Gucci is releasing their next women's scent - Flora - in April.  The scent is described as "a sensual, younger woman."  The fragrance has notes of citrus, peony, rose, osmanthus, patchouli, and sandalwood. 

• Dolce & Gabbana are launching their color cosmetic line next month.  Pat McGrath, makeup artist extraordinaire collaborated on the colors and formulas.  The line will be in the U.S. at Saks in March. 
  

• Ted Gibson (my hair boyfriend) has signed a deal to have his products distributed by Target.

• Faith Hill has signed a scent deal with Coty with plans to launch her scent in the Fall.

• Courtney Cox is the face of the new Avon scent Spotlight.  The notes for this scent are mandarin, white freesia, tuberose, mimosa, and white vanilla musk.  Those notes have my name written all over them.

• Organic Pharmacy has launched it's first US outpost in Beverly Hills, CA.

• Shu Uemura's Art of Hair has just launched its Muroto Volume Collection for fine hair. The line includes a shampoo, conditioner, and amplifying treatment.

• L'Oreal is launching EverPure, a hair care line targeting color-treated hair free of sulfates and others harmful ingredients.

• Sue Devitt's new makeup range Spa Complexion makes it debut next month.  The line is treatment products and color products. 

• Rimmel London is introducing a curl-inducing mascara called Sexy Curves Mascara.  It's also introducing Lasting Finish Kiss & Stay, a dual-ended gloss with color one side and shine on the other.

• SkinMedica is growing its TNS (tissue nutrient solution). The line will have new products focusing on anti-aging. 

• Sensai has just launched Sensai Colours, a treatment makeup line for lips, cheeks, and eyes. 

• Darphin is releasing Stimulskin Plus Divine Lifting Cream for deep moisturizing in February.

• Elizabeth Arden is releasing their new fragrance, Pretty, in February. It has notices of star jasmine, pink iris, white peony, creamy amber, and musk.

I hoped everyone had a great "gobble gobble" day.  Here's a little beauty news to get you ready for "Black Friday."

• Shiseido's artistic director dick Page has created Perfect Rouge a line of lipsticks and coordinating pencils called Smoothing Lip Pencils.  The collection will be on counter in February. 
• Jemma Kidd has expanded to Space NK including Space NK in-store boutiques at various Bloomingdales.
• Almay has released Pure Blends, a new eco-friendly color cosmetic collection. 
• Jigsaw Organics has just rolled out its organic bath and body products.  They are certified by the British Soil Association as being 99% percent certified organic.
• Giorgia Armani, excuse me, Mr. Armani will be introducing early next year three new scents called Onde.  Onde Mystere has notes of incense, amber, Moroccan rose buds, and vanilla.  Onde Vertige has notes of frangipani, patchouli, and jasmine petals.  Onde Extase has notes of Sicilian bergamot, Egyptian jasmine, pink pepper, and musk. Bonne matin, it's crisp and cold here, but it's Friday which makes me happy.  I hope everyone has a lovely weekend filled with love, laughter, joy, and beauty. 

I also hope that we maintain a mindset of gratitude as we head into Thanksgiving.  Despite what is going on in the world, we have so very much to be thankful for.  So, put on your favorite gloss and read what is going on in the world of beauty.

Here's this week's beauty news. 

• Fashion Designer Charlotte Ronson will now be featured in ads for Sebastian Haircare Products.  Sebastian was used at Charlotte's Spring 2009 shows. 
• Physicians Formula will introduce new color cosmetics for the face and eye which will have the Ecocert organic certification.
• Jack Black, the men's skincare brand, ha a new set of products called Cool Moisture Body Lotion, Body Rehab Scrub & Muscle Soak, and Deep Detox Clay Mask/Spot Treatment for the boys in our lives.
• Olay's new lines, Olay Professional -Pro-X is considered a professional skincare line for the mass market.  The line with be in stores late December.
• YSL plans to launch a skin care line by the end of 2010.
• Shiseido will launch Zen Men next fall.
• Sonia Kashuk will enter Space NK.  Yes, she will be leaving Target. I don't know when, but it's going to happen sometime in 2009.
• Sarah Jessica Parker has a trio of scents that will be available in February.  Dawn (a fresh and clean scent), Endless (fruity and floral scent), and Twilight (amber musk).  Photo above.
• The Plaza hotel has gone under a major renovation, but the addition of the Plaza Beauty by Warren-Tricomi will have me headed to NY in the dead of winter for a treat.  The store will have in store beauty experts.  Joel Warren and Edward Tricomi will select the products.  It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

MAC Hello Kitty Cosmetics Collection

According to WWD "MAC Cosmetics has teamed up with Sanrio to create a Hello Kitty color cosmetics collection.  The line will arrive on MAC's Web site Feb. 10, in the U.S. and in stores on Feb. 12.  It will be available overseas in March.  There will be the Hello Kitty Color Collection and the Hello Kitty Kouture.  The color collection will have two eye shadow palettes, which each contain four shades, six lip glosses, six lipsticks, two blushes, four glitter liners, and two shades of beauty powder.

Hello Kitty is assumed to be a cat, but she is actually a girl.  A girl without a mouth who speaks from the heart.  Hello Kitty Kouture is intended to be the high end of the collection.  Two shades of Dazzleglass feature a reusable silver chain pendant with Hello Kitty outlined in white Swarovski crystals on black with a pink crystal bow.  Sheer Mystery Powder, $90 and available in three shades, is packaged in a silver powder compact with Hello Kitty outlined in white Swarovski crystals with a pink crystal bow on a black background."

I'm definitely over the doll, the lip glosses, and the Sheer Mystery Powder.  It's a collectible.

Bonjour ladies.  Here's some much needed beauty news.  "It's been a long time since I left you, without some beauty news to step too."  I hope everyone has a lovely weekend. 

• Estee Lauder is launching Time Zone Line and Wrinkle Reducing Moisturizer next month.  It has technology that contains Tri-Hyaluronic Acid Complex to help the skin look and behave younger.
• Balenciaga signs a deal with Coty Prestige to develop and distribute a fragrance for spring 2010.
• Polo Modern Reserve will be released this month for men.
• En Pointe Skin Solutions is a new skincare line developed by plastic surgeon Christine Rodgers and named for the ballet.
• NARS Cosmetics has introduced a bronzing stick for eyes, lips, and cheeks called Multiple Bronzer.
• Estee Lauder is partnering with Wal-Mart for trio scents called C-Thru. The fragrances are named for gems.  Ruby has notes of melon, bergamot, rose, and peach; Purple Diamond has notes of black currant, night-blooming jasmine; and vanilla; Blue Opal has notes of lilac, watermelon, red berries, and rose petal.
• Halle by Halle Berry the fragrance will be in stores in March. 
• Michael Kors' Very Pretty, his latest scent has notes of mandarin, coconut, jasmine, orange flower, sandalwood, and bergamot. Also, Michael Kors' Island Bermuda (the third of his island scents) hit shelves in December.  The scent has notes of freesia, native hibiscus, cassis, pink peony, jasmine, and cedarwood.
• Tova will launch Tova Ambre D'Oro in November on QVC.  The scent is described as a musky-floral with notes of Sicilian lemon and peony peregrine.  (I've had a Sicilian lemon and they really are that amazing.  The lemons of Amalfi are just as great if you are a lemon lover).
• Avon has partnered with the Ironman Triathlon franchise and created the Ironman fragrance for men.
• Sain Parfum home fragrance blends are now available at Barneys, Space NK, and Saks.
• Pier 1 Imports has started carrying Prann, a spa product line from Thailand.
• First American Brands has signed Jesse McCartney to a fragrance deal.
• Badgley Mischka plans to launch Badgley Mischka couture their 3rd fragrance in March.
• Chesapeake Bay Candle Company is launching its new Signature line with scents like Honey Lemon Creme and Amber Vanilla Hazelnut.  I definitely have to get a few of these in my home.
• Thymes is launching a new line called Thymes Essentials and includes face and body products.

Paris: Beyond Beauty Expo

On behalf of Total Beauty and L'Oreal, I attended the Beyond Beauty Expo in Paris and I can't wait to tell you of all the exciting makeup and perfume that I sniffed and played with.  I was able to a get a fragrance that isn't even on the market yet.  How cool is that?  I'm so lucky for all this beauty happiness in my life right now.

Some of the products that I did see are available mainly in Europe so if you live there, know someone who lives there, or may be visiting then some of these lines you will want to pick up.  I was in beauty heaven with all these small and independent beauty brands.

Beauty Time with Bruce Grayson - Primetime Emmy Awards Make-Up Department Head

I spent a lovely half hour on the phone last night with Bruce Grayson, Olay celebrity makeup artist, head makeup artist for the Primetime Emmy Awards, and the Academy Awards.  Bruce is busy.  In the words of Rachel Zoe "I die" just talking to him.  The awards air this Sunday and I will be in front of the TV watching all the red carpet pretty.

First let's talk about how nice and funny he is.  I need to go to L.A. just so we can go beauty shopping together.  A girl can dream can't she. 

I told him that I was looking forward to Eva Longoria and Katherine Heigl on the red carpet.  This is how I really like my celebrities:  on the red carpet.  Give me the old Hollywood glamour back.  I don't care where they grocery shop. 

• Bruce, I was just at the Spring 2009 collections in NY.  What are you looking forward to on the red carpet?

Sheer lips.  Not nude, but more a berry stain or something in a berry sheer color.  I'm done with lip gloss. 

• What about the skin? 

We will see less foundation and more tinted moisturizers.  Tinted moisturizers are huge.  He recommended Olay Definity Color Recapture.  It's lightweight and provides enough coverage. 

• Eyes, do you think we will see more of the smoky eye?

We are moving away from the smoky eye.  Smoky eyes are all about gradients of color.  When used this way it's always beautiful.  We will see defined brows and lashes.  For color - sheer bronzes and beige against lashes.  Lashes will either be full strips or flairs. 

• Do you need an eye shadow primer?

Definitely, I'm a fan of the Laura Mercier Eye Basics.

• Ladies need to be pretty on a budget.  What are some of your picks for splurges?

Right now we are living in a time when great skincare is at a great price point.  You should always take care of your skin.  Don't skimp on a good pencil eyeliner.  You can easily tell the difference in the way they feel on the eyes.  Mascara.  If you love your high-end mascara, keep them.  There are great mass market varieties.  Last, but not least.  Brushes.  Brushes are a cornerstone of your makeup kit.  If you take care of brushes they can last you for years.

The Beauty of CHANEL

Madame Chanel said "I don't understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little - if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that's the day she has a date with destiny. And it's best to be as pretty as possible for destiny." 

I met a piece of beauty destiny this past week in New York.  It was sealed on Wednesday with CHANEL.  I was blessed to be given an exclusive tour of the new CHANEL Fragrance Counter at Saks on 5th Avenue.  CHANEL's new beauty counter has their patented Olfactive Bar designed by perfumer Christopher Sheldrake.  I think of my CHANEL fragrance arsenal which includes No. 5, Coco Mademoiselle, Chance, Cristalle, Allure, Les Exclusifs de CHANEL in 31 Rue Cambon, Gardenia, Bel Respiro, and Coromandel. 

It's also the only location to have the new BEIGE scent, part of the Les Exclusifs de CHANEL fragrance collection.  I was sold even more on CHANEL after visiting the headquarters for a skincare consultation and a preview of the Holiday collection.  All the pieces are must haves.  I pleaded with them to bring back my favorite Glossimer Zanzibar.  I miss that color.  If they bring it back I will be ready for my Zanzibar destiny wearing No. 5.

Beauty News - 09/12/08

Bonne matin mademoiselles.  Thanks for being patient with the slow posts over fashion week.  I plan to have up more fashion week pics over the weekend and into early next week.   

• Lancome has signed Arlenis Sosa as a new face for the brand.
• Bill Blass is launching Bill Blass Couture fragrance line with four scents.  The line will be sold exclusively at Saks Flagship in Manhattan for the first six months.
• Rene Furterer has a new frizz-fighting line Myrrhea Anti-Frizz set to launch in October.
• Daisy Fuentes is launching the hair care line Daisy Fuentes Pro Style line.
• Brooks Brothers will introduce Brooks Brothers for Ladies and for Gentlemen in November.  (Photo above).
• Cygalle Healing Spa is introducing a 40-item organic face care line.  Launching later this year is a men's collection.

Estee Lauder and AATP

I was privileged to attend a cocktail reception at the headquarters of Estee Lauder.  I am still squeezing myself with joy.  This opportunity was truly a gift that I will forever cherish.  After meeting the very nice executives and a personal appearance by Ms. Bobbi Brown  herself.  It was nice to be with fellow beauty bloggers and to really learn about the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

I liked being in her office surrounded by her very pretty things.  I know Mama Dear is dancing in heaven going "look at my baby.  I know all that eye cream was useful for something.

Fashion Week: Charlotte Ronson - Spring 2009

Charlotte Ronson was a burst of summer beauty fun.  The backstage area was so much fun no matter how congested it was.  The photographers of course were waiting for La Lohan but I was waiting to see what Tina Turnbow, celebrity makeup artist for Beauty.com.  Tina used all tarte Health Couture.

The look was achieved by using Mineral Powder Bronzer for  a healthy glow.  The eyes used Green Machine Eye Shadow, Emphas'eyes High Definition eye Pencil in Chocolate and Lash Hugger Natural Mascara.  I can't wait to try it.  The Lips had 24/7 Lp Sheer in Tea Time a deep rose.
