We all know that Haiti experienced severe devastation yesterday. As a traveler, I feel it's my duty to direct my readers to show support to people in need. There's so many ways to donate. I have listed a few and please do something.
We are blessed to be a blessing and these people need our support.
If you live anywhere near the D/M/V then head out to Shop-O-Nomicsclearance shopping event which is to help bring awareness to Success in Style, a non-profit organization that provides free business attire to low-income women who are seeking employment. I enjoy events like this because it supports great organizations and I get to stimulate the economy in the process. There is nothing like pretty philanthropy.
Bobbi has created his limited edition set for BCA month. The colors include Pink Quartz Glitter Lip Gloss and Tulle Lip Color for the Pink Ribbon Collection.
The Estee Lauder's Elizabeth Hurley Lip Color Collection is a great addition to your arsenal of lip glosses. I do love the pink box and the case can be used for jewelry or for sample perfume vials that you get at when you ask to try a fragrance.
Aveda Hand Relief is
a great BCA product to use and to give as a gift. I'm always on the
hunt for a great hand cream. This hand cream is light, but
moisturizing. I tend to buy the smaller size normally, but the BCA
pink ribbon is large enough to last a long time. It's in the kitchen if
you cook a lot.
Ladies, I'm off to the City of Lights. It will be a blast to have all my fellow beauty bloggers with me as we explore my favorite beauty city in the world. If I don't post as often, charge it to my head and not my heart. Remember to support Breast Cancer Awareness during my absence. Although I may be away the cause is close to my heart. I'm giving you Greenlight to have a little fun thanks to John Legend. This is my new theme song at the moment.
Sabon NYC Pink Basket for Breast Cancer Research & Awareness. What better way to contribute to finding a cure for cancer than with beautiful products meant to pamper and inspire women? This month, 30% of this basket's sales will go directly to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, in their dedication to finding a cure in our lifetime. Contents include: Bath Foam, Body Gel Polisher, Baby Candles, Sorbet Body Gel, Fresh Cut Soap, a Bath Ball and a carton box.
Ladies, we all know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The disease is affecting so many lives. We need a cure. For the month of October you will see many bloggers, magazines, websites, and numerous avenues supporting this cause. I know the economy is bad, but if you purchase one product - no matter the price point - you help someone else. That's what Pretty Philanthropy is all about. I will be featuring all kinds of "pink beauty products." I have joined with Total Beauty for a giveaway on Friday, October 17th and The Beauty Blog Network to raise funds. My goal is to raise $200.00. If we can raise more I'm so happy. I'm asking everyone to donate $5.00. You can donate at Paypal (email is allaboutthepretty@gmail.com) or go straight through the Chip-In Widget on the right sidebar.
Here is where you can help. We have pages at My Space and Facebook. I need you to become a friend and a fan.
I will have regular reviews so don't think for one second I won't continue to bring the beauty even if I have to hunt for an Internet cafe in Paris. The regular font color for the blog is chocolate brown, whenever you see an entire post in pink - it's to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We are blessed to be a blessing.
Dior is launching its Adore Dior from September 15 thru September 25. Adore Dior is the first-ever, real-time online event hosted by Dior. It's an auction showcasing once-in-a-lifetime prizes. The great thing about this Pretty Philanthropy project is that proceeds go to Look Good . . . Feel Better (an organization helping women are dealing with cancer). It's 10 days of auction and beauty fun. Get to bidding ladies.
I was privileged to attend a cocktail reception at the headquarters of Estee Lauder. I am still squeezing myself with joy. This opportunity was truly a gift that I will forever cherish. After meeting the very nice executives and a personal appearance by Ms. Bobbi Brown herself. It was nice to be with fellow beauty bloggers and to really learn about the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
(The photo to the left is of Estee Lauder's office just as she left it.)
I liked being in her office surrounded by her very pretty things. I know Mama Dear is dancing in heaven going "look at my baby. I know all that eye cream was useful for something.
I can't wait to send you my reviews of products to by for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. Thank you Total Beauty for this wonderful opportunity.
CARGO has been on the radar for many a beauty junkie. The lip gloss quads are some of my favorites, but the Beach and the Suede Blues are too-die-for. CARGO then decided to do something a little better. The CARGO PlantLove Botanical Lipsticks are friendly to the environment, contains shea butter and seed oil, but not petroleum-based ingredients. The case is made from corn and can be used to plant a seed into the earth. Literally you can plant the box and grow a flower. That is pretty cool. My pick is Majella, a sheer rose plum that works well from spring into summer and on a multitude of skin colors. Plus, here's my favorite part - $2 of each lipstick benefits St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Last year, the potion lady visited St. Jude's and we decided to make St. Jude's a part of our mission of pretty philanthropy. She was so moved that we couldn't help but make continuous donations. So, plant a little love on your lips, as well as, in your heart by giving to the earth and someone else.

Get ready for some new MAC for the holidays. Here's a look at VivaGlamorous. These holiday compacts are making their debut with the signature crown icon of MAC Royal Assets. This collection comes in two palette choices, cool and warm, each one featuring three Viva Glam Finishes.
Remember all proceeds go the MAC AIDS Fund, so not only are you buying the beauty, you are supporting Pretty Philanthropy.
I'm sitting here watching the document Crazy Sexy Cancer on the Discovery Health Channel. Kris' documentary is moving and powerful. Her writing touched me in more ways than I could have imagined. I'm thankful for the health that I have been given. I think it is so courageous of all these gorgeous women to open up about their struggle on camera for the entire world to see. We are days into National Breast Cancer month, but cancer touches us all. I am thankful for these women, all beautiful, fabulous, and full of strength. These are truly women of beauty. If you haven't picked up the book, Crazy Sexy Cancer, do so and as you do, be thankful for all that is beautiful about you- inside and out. Own Your Pretty. I may not like my thighs and I'm slathering cellulite cream day and night, but I'm grateful for the beauty of health.
I will be updating my list of pink products throughout the month. So please keep reading for more products.
For all purchases made at Spanx from October 1-31, 2007, with the unique code WASHINGTON, you will receive 25% off your order, and for each order you place, Spanx will donate $5 back to the Junior League of Washington and its literacy focused programs.
This is a great opportunity to try SPANX for the first time or stock up for holiday party wardrobe solutions and gift giving. Spanx, the company that invented Footless Body-Shaping Pantyhose, offers more than 100 products to slim you down, shape you up, and help look fabulous in your clothes!
I must first start out by letting everyone know I hate typing this list. Why? It means we have not eradicated this disease. There isn't a person that this disease has not affected in some sort of way. So for the month of October, put your money where your beauty is and purchase at least one product where the proceeds go to the cause. The list was pulled from various sources and there are numerous places to support the pink.
