Olay Pro-X Even Skin Tone: 4-Week Challenge

olay v4_0020_x5

When the lovely people at Olay approached me about participating in a 4-week skin routine challenge I was intrigued. The catch? To use the Olay Pro-X Even Skin Tone regimen morning and night. I can do this I told myself. I think. I am constantly trying products, but with that comes some really crazy skin issues at times. I also have noticed that before when I got a pimple, I could zap it (I know bad) and it wouldn’t leave a mark. Now? There are tiny little spots on my face, but most people they don’t see them, but I do. My skin has taken a beating this winter. It is cold, dry, and it is feeling the brunt of the weather. I have high hopes for this regimen for the next four weeks and can’t wait to let you know how the journey is going. I took a selfie to show my skin with only these products on my face. As you can see there are a few spots that I want to say bye-bye too. My skin is excited for spring, are you?

A little information on the products I will be using:

Nailing It With Estee Lauder Spring 2013 Pure Color

Estee Lauder Pure Color Nail Color

Who’s ready for Spring? I am and I am waiving both hands with newly lacquered nails from Estée Lauder. Today is a dreary day here in the Washington, DC area. It’s cold, rainy, and the type of weather for sitting on the couch sipping tea, reading a good book or watching Downton Abbey on my DVR, and painting my nails a new color to get my beauty hopes up for better weather. I see why people live where the sun shines a lot. I’m craving for warmth, sand, and bright nails. Are you? I think I will be rotating these colors over the next week. I can hear le husband right now, didn’t you just paint your nails? Yep! And I’m doing it again.

Nail Colors from left to right: Dilettante – a beautiful turquoise, Narcissist – a bubble gum pink, and Insatiable – a beautiful purple and lilac combination.  Plus, this week’s New Yorker magazine. This cover is so much fun.

Destination Pretty: I’m Leading My First Beauty Tour of Paris

I fell in love with Paris the first time I visited. It was the long lunches, the extra long dinners with stimulating conversations, and the food. It’s the je ne sais quoi. It is hard to explain. You have to go to fully understand what no book, blog, or photo can truly show. I always treat myself to beauty products in France. I buy the beauty essentials on every trip – exclusive red lippies from Monoprix and musc oil from Colette. I have always known that there were women who wanted the Parisian beauty experience as well. I wanted to create and merge my two loves: travel and beauty.

I will be leading my first beauty tour of Paris next week. Yes, a beauty tour! Tours are a main part of tourism. There are clothing tours, food tours, and too many tours to list. This tour is centered around beauty. We will discover hidden beauty gems, add to our current beauty collection, gather, laugh, and embrace Paris’ abundance pharmacies, markets, and boutiques all in the name of research. Beauty research that is. We are lucky to have one full day of Parisian beauty – visiting the beauty institutes and time spent with a “nose.” If you wear fragrance, a nose created it.

I don’t know how I convinced eight other ladies to join me on my first tour, but I did. Join me on this journey as I lead them through the city of light and beauty. This is the official kick-off. The beauty tours will be held annually every fall and led by moi. If I get enough participants I will add a Spring trip as well. I am currently working on dates for Fall 2013.

P.S. To the ladies on my first tour. Lianne (The Makeup Girl, Carmen (Lipstick Fashion Mascara), Amy (Midtown Girl), Erika (Makeup Bag), Monica Barnett (Blueprint for Style), Xina, Julia (not me), and Rosie. If you are on Twitter (JuliaConey) or Instagram (JuliaConey) follow along with the hashtag #ParisBeauty12

All About the Pretty’s New Addition: Podcast

After months and Sundays as my grandmother used to say, I have decided to step out the box. Over the past few years people have encouraged me to switch things up and to add a new component to the blog. Well, at the yoga and art journal retreat I realized it was time to kick it up a notch. It isn’t a secret that I love blogging beauty and travel. Put those things together and whoa. So check back here on Friday, June 8, for the new addition to All About the Pretty. I am a huge believer in journaling, signs, and vision boards. This was the next evolution of myself and my work. Let’s just say that the Rebirth Brass Band has been this Southern Girl’s inspiration. The podcast will be raw and uncut. I plan to record them during my travels.

Without further ado: introducing the podcast Nomadic Chic: For The Global Adventuress In Us All. The podcast is extension of all the things I love in short audio format. You can listen from the site or download from the link in iTunes (search for All About the Pretty). It will feature tidbits on all things I find beautimous, but additional information currently not on on the blog such as what I’m reading, what I’m packing, and where I’m traveling. The first download will be available Friday, June 8 and it was recorded in Provence [Gréolières, France] at the amazing villa I stayed during my yoga and art journal retreat.

Why nomadic. The nomad theme is a play on where I am in my life. It definitely means to travel, but a nomadic lifestyle begins in the mind and manifests to other areas of your life. Exploration can be of the world, culture, food, the arts, yourself, and more. Let’s stop the limitations.
Bisous!

Lucky Style Collective

This summer I was asked by Lucky Magazine to be part of the Lucky Style Collective. The Style Collective is a select group of bloggers that will be part of Lucky Magazine’s blogger network. It’s a great honor to be part of such an amazing group of bloggers. I’m headed to New York today to the Lucky Fashion and Beauty Blogger (FABB) Conference. I’m excited to hear Diane von Furstenberg speak and to see what’s up with the Kardashian girls. I’m feeling very exhausted today since I just got home last night from a fun few days in Louisiana. But I’m excited for the opportunities that are coming my way.

Bluemercuy + Tocca = Kona Candle

Bluemercury the premiere beauty emporium in Wasington, DC is celebrating its 11 year anniversary.  I didn't realize it has been that long. I remember buying from them before I moved to the area.  Bluemercury is still my go to location for my favorite niche beauty lines when I can't get to Juanita at Neiman's in Houston.

To celebrate their anniversary Bluemercury has a limited-edition gift bag with a few of their favorite lines.  The bag is available for the month of September and features amazing samples of brands such as Laura Mercier, Revive, Lafco, and Molton Brown.

To make this anniversary even more special, Bluemercury has teamed with Tocca to produce  the beyond-gorgeous scented Kona candle.  Marla Malcolm Beck the creator of Bluemercury used her childhood memories of the family home in Kona, Hawaii to create a scent that is perfect for the home.  This has been my go-to candle for weeks.
