It has finally cooled off, but that hasn’t stopped the summer rain. I find myself looking at the weather channel more than I used to. When I lived in Houston I was used to the rain because it rains there a lot. I always knew it was raining somewhere in Houston even if not where I lived. It seems the skies are opening out and rain is spilling out often. Almost every day. Since I walk more than drive I needed a pair of rain boots. These Joules Rain Boots are not only functional, but beyond cute. The bow on the boots are the main attraction. I get so many compliments and questions about them because they are different than traditional wellies. I wish I had an outdoor music festival to wear them too. Diana Ross is coming next month and maybe she will bring more rain. I remember watching her concert in Central Park and she still performed in the rain and her makeup stayed put. Flawless! I will be happy when I don’t have to pull these out 4-5 times a week, but until then I will be singing in the rain – cute boots and oversized umbrella – ella, ella, aye, aye, aye.
Start at the 9:30 mark. Trust me! Perfection!
I’m still obsessed with Graphic Image. It started with their delicious e-book cover, but now I’m in love with their newest brand GiGi New York. To be specific, it’s their Embossed Python Phone Wallet in Fuchsia that has mine name all over it. I am addicted to my iPhone. I have been in love since I first got one a few years ago and I can’t get enough. It goes with me everywhere. The wallet also has enough room for my passport. I don’t do passport covers because they make you take them out anyway. I’m eagerly awaiting the next generation like most die-hard iPhone, but I’m hoping they keep the same size. I do not want to buy a new wallet.
Prom is right around the corner. If you or a special girl in your life is still searching for a dress look no further! Though they are known for their wedding dresses, you can also find an extensive collection of pretty prom dresses at David’s Bridal. Keeping with the ultimate southern belle style, take a look at some of our favorite ball gowns in the latest trends.
The definition of “pretty,” this gorgeous organza dress in fuschia would look great on any skin tone. Prints are very in this prom season and this subtle floral print is both feminine and unique. The empire waist also makes this dress extremely flattering.
This awards season we saw a lot of celebrities wearing white on the red carpet. This glamorous white dress features an intricately patterned sequin skirt that provides the perfect amount of sparkle. The bodice features a bandaged look in the front and a distinctive back.
Another trend you can expect to see a lot of this prom season is the ombre dress. “Ombre” is a French term meaning “shaded.” A beautiful shade of royal blue flows seamlessly into a turquoise and back into royal blue in this strapless ball gown. Also featured is a lace up back that will guarantee this dress fits like a glove.
Last, but not least, is the classic pretty in pink dress. For the girl that wants to feel like a princess, this is the perfect dress. It features a sequined bodice and a full tulle skirt. Love the dress but pink isn’t your thing? You’re in luck, it also comes in champagne.
No matter which of these dresses you pick you will surely feel like the belle of the ball on your big night. How do you feel about this year’s trends? Which of these dresses is your favorite?

The minute I saw this Anthropologie Striped Stripes Dress I knew I needed to have it in my life. It is a perfect dress to keep me (1) motivated to work out and (2) bring to a wedding in Jamaica come June. The best thing about this dress is the colors remind me of Jamaica. I’m all about the strapless dress in the summer and this one has my name written all over it. That is until my cousin Cassaundra tries to steal it from me in Cancun while we are on our annual girls trip. Now all I need is some Bob Marley to get me in the groove. I’m seeing Ziggy Marley here this summer and will definitely pull this dress back out.
Bonmarché has given a few warm-weather dressing tips just in time for the temperature drop. Dressing for autumn and winter can be a stressful experience, but these tips will help women make the most of fashion in the cooler weather. Warm doesn’t have to mean bulky, look for thin knits that will keep you cozy without obscuring your shape. You can also layer a fitted blouse or thin top over a thermal under vest. Layering is also great if you will spend your day switching between the cold outdoors and heated buildings.
Avoid overly flowing garments as they can make you look shapeless. Belt a warm cardigan at the waist to show off your curves.
Your coat is one of the most important items in your winter wardrobe. After all, no matter how nice your outfit, your coat will be covering it up for much of the day. Look for specially designed plus-size ladies coats rather than sized up versions of slim cuts. They are more likely to be flattering to your figure.
You can convert your summer dresses to autumn use by pairing them with warm leggings and a cozy cardigan.

Burberry is always one of my favorite London fashion shows. As much as I enjoy long maxi dresses and flip flops for summer, it’s always great to see their Spring line of trench coats because I can still dream of Spring like weather. There’s a crispness in the air every morning which I love. This silk trench may be part of Burberry’s fall collection, but can definitely work for Spring. Maybe it’s time I jet across the pond for pub fare, high tea, and crumpets. It’s been a long time since I’ve been to London. Hmm, maybe while I’m there I can hit up the Burberry outlet.
