{4.10.14} Le Weekend

{4.10.14} Le Weekend.jpg

My loves, my favorite items of the week happen to be products I discovered while in California. I had an entirely different le weekend ready to go, but I’m so excited about these beauty products I couldn’t help myself but give you the beauty duty for the weekend.

Happy Weekend! Bisous!

Olavie Antioxidant Hand Cream. This is rich cream and my hands immediately fell in love an needed to be caressed by this hand cream. I had brought a new hand cream with me that I wasn’t fond of and I am excited for this one. Mysteriously, the other hand cream was left at my hotel. (Wink!) My favorite words from the brand – tested on wine lovers, not animals. Adorable.

Illume’s Go Be Lovely Fragrance. The name of the scent drew me to it. Go be lovely. Those are the loveliest words I have heard in a while. The fact they are applied to a fragrance makes it better. I’m going to be lovely while wearing the Anemone scent full of patchouli and cloves.

Kissing Elixirs. This is the cutest version of a breath freshener you will ever find. Trust me. It works and it’s cute. Beauty for the win.

Roja Dove Amber Aoud

Roja Dove Amber Aoud.jpg

There are scents that make me smile and scents that transform me, move me, and bring tears to my eyes. That’s how I feel smelling Roja Dove Amber Aoud. A brief background of Roja Dove. His scents are only available at Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman in the U.S. You can always cross the pond to Harrod’s and take a whiff if that tickles your fancy. The scent takes me back to Egypt. That country is magical to me and I can’t wait to return.

I hadn’t had a fragrance moment like that in a long time until I was at Bergdorf with my friend Sarah and took one whiff of Amber Aoud. Tears came to my eyes. Seriously. I had to take deep breaths. I think I spooked Sarah a little bit. I don’t come off as emotional (I am), but that day I was a mess. A lot of people don’t really understand the power of fragrance. Coco Chanel famously said “a women who doesn’t wear fragrance has no future.” Coco I get it. I do believe scent is transformative. Roja reaffirms my belief in the power of scent.

Every time I apply Amber Aoud I am gone. Blown away. It brings back so many memories. Beauty is powerful. Embrace it. Own Enjoy it.

I love being a girl.

{3.28.14} Le Weekend

{3.28.14} Le Weekend.jpg

I feels like spring. I know I shouldn’t be so happy, but 50 degree temperatures make this girl very happy. Although, the forecast call for rain, I don’t care as long as I don’t have to wear a puffy coat. I looked at the calendar and I’m like where has this year gone. It’s flying by. April is upon and it’s time to ponder new spring dreams, aspirations, and fun.

Here’s to the weekend and a few of my beautimous favorites. Cheers!

Nest Midnight Fleur Rollerball. This is the rollerball that will make her debut in Napa Valley next weekend. I am always working on my travel fragrance collection. A girl must smell nice while living a life en route and this is a new favorite.

Soy Sauce for Beginners. I can never get enough of coming to age story and this one has made their way to my Kindle. Excited to step out of my reading rut of series books about killers, madmen, and secret agents.

Paddywax Passionfruit & Guava Boheme Candle. This is what happens when you work part time at a yoga studio that also is a boutique. You discovery new candles that you can’t live without. This is the current candle in the office rotation. My friend Maria told me it reminds of her spring break. It reminds me of Kauai and all I need is some fresh papaya.

Big Girl Bath Time with Diptyque Precious Oils for Body & Bath

Diptyque Precious Body Oil.jpg

Snow days are sometimes the best days. Especially on a Monday. After working full speed from the time I woke up I decided it was time for a mid-day break. I don’t mean the kind of break that included the day’s left over coffee, but the kind that included a hot bath (hot baths are so not good for winter skin) and soaking in Diptyque’s Precious Oils for Body & BathI am all about adding oils such as jojoba and almond oil to my bath and I wanted to feel luxurious. Therefore, I brought out the big beauty guns. The kind that you don’t use every day. It’s like your Sunday best. You may know Diptyque from their candles and their recently launched skincare line (I will have my hands on that soon), but this oil took me to the happy place I needed on a cold day.

Were you trapped by the snow? What did you do?

Ann Taylor Signature Fragrance

Ann Taylor Fragrance

I can feel the magic in the air. The magic that soon it will be March and warmer temperatures. In the meantime I am dreaming of magnolia, vanilla, and musk. It’s all wrapped in the reality of Ann Taylor’s Signature Fragrance. Years ago I worked at Ann Taylor when it was just clothes and shoes and no celebrity endorsements. It’s still a go-to spot when I need a real woman pair of trousers.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the scent. I’m always hesitant when brands dip their beauty toe into something that’s not their speciality, but I’m glad Ann Taylor decided to try something new. It’s a scent that is waiting to be worn sans puffy coat and gloves. In the words of Katy Perry this fragrance is ready to roar.

What scents are you waiting to wear this spring?

Calyx is Back and It’s a Good Thing

Clinique Calyx

Calyx, I could write a sonnet or haiku on how much I’m glad you are back in the beauty world. I remember my first bottle. It was originally by Prescriptives and my mom purchased it from Foley’s (now Macy’s). I remember thinking it smells fresh. As if my skin was doused in fresh laundry scented with melon and citrus. Fast forward to 2013 and it has been re-released by Clinique. The minute I took one whiff I went right back to 1986. It was the 80s. My hair was big, Salt-n-Pepa was on my walkman, and I smelled divine. For my younger ladies who don’t remember the original – this is your new scent for spring. Now if they could just bring back the lotion my beauty world would be made.

Chanel No. 5 Intense Bath Oil

Chanel No. 5 Intense Bath Oil

Lately my insomnia has reared her ugly head. I go to bed yawning and ready for sleep, but at 4 a.m. on the dot I’m wide awake. I know I’m only getting 5-6 hours and for me that is not enough. I try to will myself to go back to sleep, but 30 minutes later I know sleep is not coming. I normally get up, hit my yoga mat, breathe, and stretch out the kinks. I know a few things are missing from my usual routine – a hot bath, mindful and relaxing reads, and lavender essential oil on my temples. Baths are very necessary to well-being. It seems the nights I don’t take them – I’m screwed with lack of sleep.

I need to replenish the wellness well and get back on the bath bandwagon. I plan to do so with CHANEL No. 5 Intense Bath Oil. I’m a huge fan of CHANEL No. 5 perfume. I always have a stash because it reminds me of my grandmother. I’m normally an Epsom salt, almond oil, and bubble bath type of girl. I’m deciding for this holiday season and in celebration of my birth month I’m going big or go home. This will do the trick.

{11.15.13} – Le Weekend

11.15.13 Le Weekend

Has the week been long for you? It seems it has been extra long for me. We are still in contractor Hades and although we are finally moving along it seems as though November is flying by. Where did it go? Did you see that registration is up for the 2014 Paris Beauty Tour? I can’t wait to return to one of my favorite cities, introduce lovely ladies to all Paris has to offer and fun beauty treasures.

I always have a few things that get me through the week and these are at the top of the list.

  1. The Read Podcast with Kid Fury and Crissle. I stumbled upon this podcast a month ago and in two days listened to every single episode. I absolutely love them. I told everyone how funny these two are and how much I look forward to their podcast each week. I also love that they are both from the South – Kid Fury from Florida and Crissle from Oklahoma. When I hear Crissle’s Southern twang it makes me so happy. I never apologize for my Texas and Louisiana roots and neither does she. I also love that they love Beyonce as much as I do. If you need a pick me up each week, download The Read and prepare to laugh your butt off. Their pop culture commentary is on point. I hate I missed them this week in DC and promise myself I will be at the next one. I keep saying I’m going to send in my own read, but I need to find the time to write it all down. Let the laughter ensue.
  2. mySerenity Incense by My Insens. I discovered this incense at my yoga studio. One of the teachers is an ambassador and I can’t get enough. It’s calming and gives my inner hippie such joy. I tend to burn this a lot along with candles when le husband is not home. It’s a perfect scent situation in my office or when I practice yoga at home.
  3. Ghost Pines Cabernet Sauvignon. A few weekends ago we took a getaway to Middleburg, VA to explore. I discovered this cab at the bar in Salamander Resort and have been hooked every since. After sleuthing I discovered one of my local wine stores carries it. If I’m going to be cold, I’m warming up with this.
  4. Acqua di Parma Oud. Did you actually think I was going to have a beauty item? This piece of lusciousness is really for the boys. My good friend Sydelle at Neiman’s introduced me to. Yes, it’s a men’s fragrance. I’m on an Oud kicked, but paired with Jo Malone’s Velvet Rose or Hermès 24 Faubourg it is just right for us ladies. This is another winter necessity. A new scent to give me a new attitude like Patti LaBelle.

Happy Weekend!
