There’ is a new red lipstick in my collection and it is courtesy of Target and Poppy King. The sheer loveliness of Boots No 7 Poppy King Lipstick in History is great for spring. It is not as intense a red that one might think. It glides on easily and leaves a perfect red hue to my lips. I have a few Lipstick Queen lipsticks, but I usually wear them in the fall since they are highly-pigmented. This is just enough pigment to be noticed and light enough that my lips don’t feel super heavy. I have also come to the conclusion that I can never have enough lip color. I wear lipstick to yoga ladies. Yep, I do. I suggest you order it now. It is just that lovely.
If you haven’t read her book Lessons of a Lipstick Queen please do so. It is a great book on believing in something, working hard, and seeing your hard work pay off.
I know I’m late to this party. MAC Tendertones have been on the counter for a few weeks, but I had to make time to test all the colors and figure out the best one for moi. Sweet & Nice is a sheer magenta with pearl to me. They list it as red grape, but to me it’s on the magenta/burgundy side. It is lightweight, scented, and sheer enough to apply under or over most lip colors. I apply this color very often throughout the day and I may need to run out and buy more before they sell out.
CARGO has been on the radar for many a beauty junkie. The lip gloss quads are some of my favorites, but the Beach and the Suede Blues are too-die-for. CARGO then decided to do something a little better. The CARGO PlantLove Botanical Lipsticks are friendly to the environment, contains shea butter and seed oil, but not petroleum-based ingredients. The case is made from corn and can be used to plant a seed into the earth. Literally you can plant the box and grow a flower. That is pretty cool. My pick is Majella, a sheer rose plum that works well from spring into summer and on a multitude of skin colors. Plus, here’s my favorite part – $2 of each lipstick benefits St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Last year, the potion lady visited St. Jude’s and we decided to make St. Jude’s a part of our mission of pretty philanthropy. She was so moved that we couldn’t help but make continuous donations. So, plant a little love on your lips, as well as, in your heart by giving to the earth and someone else.

Korres, the Greek based line has ventured into another arena of beauty. I’m addicted to anything guava by the line, therefore I was anxious to try the new lip butters and glosses. I picked the Pomegranate color. It’s a bright cherry color in the pot, but on application the color isn’t as bright which is a good thing because it works under most lip colors. The butter is rich and creamy. You will find yourself finding any excuse to apply it. I’m considering the Wild Rose too.
Have a happy first day of spring!
I so wanted to have a Bobbi Lip Crayon when they debuted with the Pink Raspberry Collection, but I knew the colors weren’t the best match for me. I also knew Bobbi wouldn’t let me down. And she didn’t. Hitting shelves in April are four new lip crayons in shades so luscious that I’m exfoliating and puckering my lips in preparation. The colors are Naked Pink, Nude Berry, Warm Rose, and Red Plum. I already know that Warm Rose and Red Plum are for me.
When I first saw these photos it made me think of Barry White’s Never, Never Gonna Give You Up.
Never, never gonna give you up
I’m never, ever gonna stop
Not the way I feel about you
Girl, I just can’t live without you.
I’m never ever gonna quit,
‘Cause quittin’ just ain’t my schtick
I’m gonna stay right here with you
Do all the things you want me to
I am really trying to get organized and stay organized when it comes to my beauty arsenal this month. I have been really good about pulling the clothes that need to be donated to various charities, such as suits for Dress for Success, and making sure everything is in pristine organization before I head to NY later this month. I don’t even have the energy to tackle my books or recipes this month. One area of organization has to be my travel kit. I’m really trying to streamline. I’ve written numerous times of my love for lip scrubs and this Artistry Lip Kit is a perfect example of what I’ve been needing. The scrub has a lot less "grit" than most. So, if you prefer a lighter scrub rather than a heavy sugar laden scrub – this is for you. The lip conditioner has a nice, but not thick consistency, which works well before your lip gloss or lipstick. I carried this with me to Spain and was very pleased with the scrub. I’m running low right now, but will refuel before heading back home next month.
Have a very pretty day.
I want to thank all the lovely ladies who sent me this video and told me about this song. Yes, it has been months since this song has been month. But for some reason it’s time I talked about it. If you haven’t watched Lil’ Mama’s Lip Gloss Song, here’s the video. Lil’ Mama is it alright if my "lipstick is cool, my lipstick be poppin’." Lipstick Queen is the brainchild of Poppy King. Isn’t the name Poppy just perfect for this song. The colors are all beautiful and come in varying degrees of reds. Maybe when I’m in NY again, I will pick up part of the Sinner collection, but right now I’m feeling like a saint.
What cha know ’bout me, what cha’ know ’bout me!!! MWAH!!
There is so much I learn from other beauty junkies. I learned so much from Erika these past few days in NY that I kept having to tell myself "be good sugar plum, you are going to Spain." But in my strongest moment, I knew I would cave on one thing. A new lip gloss. Well, I caved on three but it was well worth. They are the Prescriptives Tinted Lip Balm. When I first tried the Smoothie, the scent alone made me want to buy it. Then it was the Sunburst, but the last jewel in the crown was Caramel which Jason at Bergdorf’s so deftly applied that I wore it to a Christmas party last Saturday night. Not only was I spending my Friday night at Bergdorf, like there is a better place, but I got a chance to meet one our readers Tara. After Bergdorf’s the three beauty stooges hit Sephora on 5th. After wards we all clicked our heels and headed home. Well Erika and I headed to our hotel which with the amount of products splashed across the room probably resembled our bathrooms.
After a quick perusal of the website I realized that they have the cutest holiday gifts. This one is at the top of my list. It looks divine for New Year’s Eve celebrations which has a travel size Illuminating Potion. Why? After the consistent lack of sleep I am definitely going to need some illumination in my life.
Have a great day.
