NARS Dual-Intensity Blush in Panic

NARS Dual-Intensity Blush Panic

My makeup and my life are in desperate need of a little color injection and NARS Dual-Intensity Blush in Panic was the perfect accoutrement to bring my makeup bag back to life. I usually apply 2-3 different blushes most days and I have been wearing lots of neutrals. Let me just say this is a great blush on my brown skin. It gives great color and is perfect for spring. At first glance the colors seem loud. But, with most NARS bright blushes they look phenomenal on most skin tones. Example, Exhibit A. It’s a crazy bright orange, but when you put it on it’s a stunner. It feels amazing on my skin and I’m happy because today there isn’t a windchill below 10 degrees.

The smile on my face is because I know spring is on her way and just this thought brightens my mood. Yesterday I spent the day at a work event, then exploring the city, and finished at the National Gallery of Art for an artist date as per Julia Cameron. It was glorious walking all over the city and being outside. My new blush made it twice as nice. Get this in your arsenal.

Beauty.com + Adam Selman

Untitled-1

I am a sucker for anything sample size. You can see my post from Monday about how I like to keep the beauty going when I travel. A few of the items from Beauty.com + Adam Selman gift with purchase (for a $100 Beauty.com purchase) made their way into my beauty carry-on. The Paula’s Choice Sunscreen, H2) lotion, andthe Korres Serum are definite winners in this kit.

Beauty.com always have a few of my favorite beauty goodies and I’m glad to see they have added RMS and Fashion Fair. I order a lot from Drugstore.com and like that it’s one cart for everything I need, even for household items.

I suggest you grab these goodies up. I’m sure there are a few beauty items that you need in your arsenal for fall.

Murad Skincare Renewing Cleansing Oil

Murad Cleansing Oil

I’m catching up on magazines so I can be ready for those large September issues that are already coming through my mailbox. In an old issue of Elle, Caroline Hirons, a facialist from the UK lamented on her love of facial oils. It made me decide to try and use them for a few weeks to see if I loved them as much as she does. I’ve been sticking with the Murad Renewing Cleansing Oil and I love the way it takes off everything. Even the mascara that comes off in those spiny tendrils. The cleanser is very gentle and I love using it in the evening to take everything off my face.

It’s hard to believe that I love this oil so much. I’m a die hard “wash my face with foam” cleanser type of girl, but having this oil makes me want to venture into more cleansing oils. I was a huge fan of them years ago, but I let my love for them fall by the wayside. I’m back with Murad. As I move into revamping my skincare routine for the fall, I will definitely keep this oil in the rotation.

Chantecaille Face Illuminators in Luster and Brilliance

Chantecaille

I was sick as a dog on yesterday. Food poisoning. I spent Saturday night in a deep fetal position, missed a friend’s birthday party, and felt horrible for hours. It never is pretty having food poisoning and I absolutely hate being sick. I don’t know if my body was telling me to slow down, but I am thankful le husband rushed home to take care of me. I knew the minute I started feeling better last night because all I wanted to do was take a long bath and give myself an at-home facial.

Although I was sick I planned a few blog articles, made a Sephora purchase (extra beauty points), and scheduled some yoga sessions. I flipped through the first September magazine that arrived on Saturday. How is is this possible? I have a never ending quest to always have the ever present bronzy highlighter on my cheekbones. Chantecaille’s Cheek Illuminators recently came into my beauty arsenal and I can’t get enough of them. Yep, I’m a hippie. Beachy, bronze, and salt water all day long.

I use them separately and together. They are perfect for giving you that summa summa summertime glow, but I can’t wait to add them to my travel collection and use them in the fall. Did I really just type “fall.” Say it isn’t so? Fall can’t be this close. I’m not ready. I’m still reveling in my cheekbones and all that Chantecaille is bringing to the shimmy shimmy party.

P.S. A few weeks ago I talked about my meditation tools and what helped me get started. I started with the Oprah and Deepak Chopra 21-day Meditation Challenge. Guess what? They are doing another one on Expanding Your Happiness and it started today. We all can use a few moments of quiet in our day. Try it. I guarantee you will love it.

Perricone MD No Blush Blush

Perricone No Blush Blush

I’m a sucker for a good blush. I like them in all variations – powder, cream, stick, and liquid. I wear it almost every day. I was intrigued when I heard Dr. Nicholas Perricone was creating a makeup line. He’s known for his amazing skin care and I knew the products would be great. But, I was a skeptic. A dermatologist with a makeup line? Was he stepping out of his lane? I’m glad he did.

I tried the No Blush Blush with SPF 30 and my first impression was this is going to be too light for my dark skin. I’ve tried many a blush that looks like I dusted pink flour on my cheeks. And not in a good way. Everything doesn’t work for ever body, but I was hoping this blush would. I realized it is a build-able blush and applied it lightly at first. When I say “build-able” I mean the first time you apply it you may go “where is it?” I applied a few more drops and the soft subtle pink is perfect for summer. I liked it – a lot. This is a perfect size for travel and I am in love. It’s also great because you won’t feel as your face is melting with it on.

I’m curious how the bronzer stacks up to most liquid bronzers. That’s next on my list.

{4.25.14} Le Weekend

{4.25.14} Le Weekend

By the time you read this I will be half way to New York for the Yoga Journal Conference. I was asked if I wanted to attend the conference and since I haven’t been to a Yoga Journal conference in years I couldn’t say no. Travel, beauty, New York, and yoga? It was a no brainer. After reworking my schedule I’m headed to practice with some of my “favorite BFF” yoga teachers that I only know through social media. In my head I am their friend. You know what I mean. It’s a full and packed day Friday – Monday, but I have my muscle rub (lots of yoga = sore muscles), essential oils, and few beauty goodies that I can’t leave home without. You can follow my adventures on Instagram here.

Happy Weekend. Bisous!

Yoga Journal Conference. I love practicing at my home studio Tranquil Space, but there are times I want to practice with the yoga people I see in magazines. These are my favorite celebrities. I’m excited to take classes with Kathryn Budig, Tiffany Cruikshank, Rodney and Colleen Yee, Vinnie Marino, Seane Corn and a few others. I know I will be sore so I have my trusty Tiger Balm in my bag. I learned my lesson from my first conference. Never leave home without Tiger Balm and Tylenol.

Iman Lipstick in Flirtatious. I’m a beauty girl after all and I have to have a lip product on during my yoga practice. I don’t care how many chaturungas I have to do Vinnie, I need me a lippie. This hot pink lipstick has staying power and it’s gorgeous on my skin. OMG – Om My God! This lipstick is perfection. I plan to rock it with my hot pink yoga tights and a smile. Don’t worry. I’m bringing a lip gloss as well in case I need to change up.

Shobha Freshening Rosewater Cloths. I have been going to Shobha for years when I had the chance in NYC. The minute they opened one in DC, I stopped going to my old threading lady and have been a Shobha addict ever since. One of my favorite products is their rosewater cloths for freshening up. They come in a pack, but I find the singles work best for me. I will be doing at least 3 yoga classes a day and these cloths will come in handy to wipe down before the next class. That is a must to maintaing some form of pretty when you look a sweaty mess.

Dior Coral Bagatelle Blush is Saving Me from the Mondays

Diorblush Trianon Edition 763 Corail Bagatelle

It’s been a long time since I’ve had a Dior blush in the beauty arsenal, but on this cold and cloudy day I’m dreaming of spring and summer. Dior’s Coral Bagatelle has my cheeks written all over it. How gorgeous is this pinky coral color? I have been rotating the same 5-6 blushes over the past year and it’s time I do a little “upgrade” to my cheek selections. We have more weeks of old man winter, but with this blush on my cheeks it just might be a little more bearable. Not really, but I hope. Beauty makes it all better.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Smoky Extravagant Mascara

Makeup Forever Mascara

It’s officially fall. The mornings are brisk in these parts. As much as I love seasons, my heart is already missing the summer heat. My face isn’t missing the sweat I will say that. I’m excited to be able to wear tinted moisturizer, a darker lip, and tons of mascara. I love a va-va-voom lash. I am achieving that look with Make Up For Ever’s Smoky Extravagant Mascara. At first I didn’t know how I felt about the wand. Take a gander. It looks weird. I got past my beauty apprehension and put it to the test. My lashes look fake. Seriously. Don’t get me wrong – I love adding help to my lashes with individuals, but for every day use I plan to apply multiple coats of this mascara. It’s something about the fat part of the brush that gives lashes a little something extra. Welcome to the beauty arsenal, smoky.
