Put It in Writing

I have never met a stationery I didn’t like. I love making notes, writing things down, and crossing them off my lists. I have way too many bins filled with paper, but I love it. Saturday morning I headed to do some “paper” shopping with another paper junkie. My husband tried to laugh at my happiness, but I know deep down he loves it when I leave him “love notes.” Yep, I’m that sap. It started innocently enough at Paper Source and a handful of blank Merci cards later. After that – things took a life of their own. We both decided in unison it was time to hit up another one of our favorite places for paper - Anthropologie.

It was a tough decision not to buy everything I wanted, but I will be paper shopping in Paris in two weeks so I showed some restraint. That is until I walked into the sale department and fell in love with this scarf . It’s peaking out under the paper. This canister of Paris is perfect for vision journaling and I had to have it. A highlight was the hot pink journal that I plan to take on my trip. A bonus. It can be refilled with these Moleskin beauties.  But the creme de la creme was the Happy Note pads that I have been eying for months and needed in my lifestyle. I can’t wait to send the potion lady a note just to tell her I love her.

Rifle Paper’s “Hello” Telegram Card

I am all about Rifle Paper’s Hello Telegram Card. The minute I saw them it was just like SJP in Sex and the City saying hello lover to those pink Louboutins. They are just so cute. I have a few aunts and uncles who will be receiving these from me in the coming weeks. I have a few friends that really get the paper obsession. Don’t get me started on the colored pen and pencil. As much as I love my digital life, I still find joy in the small things such as penning a note, chatting on the phone, cooking, and reading magazines in the tub.

The Pursuit of Thank You Notes

I collect stationery and colored pens the same way I collect beauty products and passport stamps. It’s something about sitting down and writing a note to a business friend, personal friend or family. It’s so relaxing for me. Some weeks are better than others and I can get them out and ready to go on Monday. I get so much email and it is always a delight to go to the mailbox and see a lovely note addressed to me.

I also have to have beautiful stamps. I can’t have a pretty card and a generic looking stamp on in it. It’s definitely not happening. Imagine my delight when it was time to order new stamps and these gorgeous Garden of Love Stamps screamed at me. I plan to pair these stamps with my new cards from Minted. They bring me as much joy as candles and peonies.

Happy Monday!

Horchow Paper Collection – Spring 2011

I am always on the lookout for fabulous paper so I can work on my penmanship.  I recently heard that in Georgia they are thinking of taking cursive out of the curriculum.  Hold the phone.  Really? I can’t even imagine this.  But, this will not stop me from teaching others the art of the written note.

Horchow’s glorious tag line for their new paper collection “there’s more than one way to update your status” is perfect.  My favorite is the Fleur-de-Lis print.

Sharpie Products Make Their Debut at New York Fashion Week – #NYFW

Betsey Johnson Sharpie Design Sharpie, the ultimate multi-tasking, backstage, must-have marker,
is appearing "front of house" at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, writing
a new chapter in DIY fashion history.

Most of you all know that I love
paper. I can spend hours in paper stores for the perfect thank you card or
notepad.  I am also a pen junkie.  I love pens and always try to write in fun
colors – hot pink, yellow, orange, or green – you name it – I write with
it.  I was so excited to learn that Sharpie
(addicted to those as well will be at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week).  I love writing notes with Sharpie’s Ultra
Fine Point colors.  I keep a set at home
and the office.  But, this year Sharpie
has a retractable pen that is high on my pen list. I just need colors Sharpie
ASAP okay.

Betsey Johnson is lending her signature style to Sharpie’s
official foray into fashion, partnering with the leading marker brand to design
an exclusive Betsey Johnson Sharpie Shirt. Johnson’s design echoes the
customization trend, letting wearers complete the design she started on the
shirt by adding their own Sharpie style.
“Everything I draw, write, sign, doodle is with a Sharpie marker,” said
Johnson. “These days, the real fashion trend is all about expressing your
individual self and style. Sharpie is the perfect tool to do just that, whether
on paper, fabric, or other materials.”

I can’t wait to make my way to
their first-ever SHARPIE BAR during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.  Sharpie is inviting editors and attendees to
grab a Sharpie marker and get creative. At the Sharpie DIY Lounge, guests
become the designers. Plain white accessories, apparel items and, of course,
plenty of Sharpie markers will be on hand for guests to embellish their
favorite silhouettes.

The Beauty of Paper at Cursive

Mk_and_i_at_cursive My love of paper products has not dwindled since writing this blog.  I actually think it’s increased.  The more I dedicate to technology, the more I love slowing down and writing notes.  In NY, I make a quick stop at Cursive, which has paper, jewelry and other glorious little pick me ups.  I met the lovely MK there who wanted to take a photo of my necklace.  This was one of my favorite finds I bought on the street in Mykonos last summer.  After picking up a few paper products for a thank you present I headed to BG.  If you are a lover of all things papier and pretty, head to see MK at Cursive the next time you are in NY.  Cursive is located at 888 Broadway near Union Square and get your paper fix.

For the love of paper.

Nantaka Joy – Isn’t She Lovely

Nantaka_joyI love my graphic artist Joy.  I am so proud of all Joy has done with design.  She has one of the best blogs out there and I’m not saying that because my logo is such a divine collaboration of style and prettiness.  Joy has just started her own paper line.  Yes, the girl is that awesome.  Her notebooks are too-die-for and they look so good sitting next to my nightstand for inspiration, next to the computer for notes, and just lovely whipping out of my pocketbook.  In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, 30% of the "I Love . . ." notebooks purchases will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.  Nantaka Joy was just featured in the October issue of Lucky Magazine in the "Do Good While You Shop" section.  Visit http://www.figmentsdesign.com to purchase.

Her website will launch soon, just in time for holiday shopping.  In the meantime, visit http://www.nantakajoy.com for an updated shop list.
