I have waited patiently for J.J. Abrams to give me some butt-kicking, action, spy-espionage TV series. I still miss Alias and was a faithful (never missed an episode) viewer. I didn't get into Lost although I'm revisiting it on my Netflix. I plan to spend my Wednesday evenings watching the beautimous looks of Boris Kodjoe and Gugu Mbatha-Raw in Undercovers. I'm ready for my Wednesday nights to involve more than just food. P.S. I miss you Top Chef. I'm a savory girl and desserts aren't my thing. Chalk Hill Chardonnay is one of my all time favorite white wines. Until the weather gets a little more chilly I will stick to white wines. This wine has a finish of butter and is perfect for pairing with various dishes from a light corn and crab chowder to roasted rosemary chicken. I was introduced to this wine years ago by my friend Dolo and I have yet to stop buying it.
I remember when I first read it Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. I couldn't get enough. My life was in transition This book has two sides: people who love it (like me) and those who vehemently hate it. I can bring up this book to 10 women and it's always the same response (half love it/half hate it). Elizabeth has a new book Committed: A Skeptic Makes Peace With Marriage and because I'm a fan of all her work I've plowed through it. I find that it has bits and pieces of Elizabeth's voice that I love reading. At times she can be overly thinking, but she gives a hilarious take on why she didn't want to marry, but eventually couldn't find a good enough reason not to.
I read Pilgrims and Stern Men eons before EPL and her writing makes me happy. Committed is vastly different, but I appreciate books of all kinds. Some I get and some I don't, but that won't make me stop reading it. Elizabeth is hilarious in person. I highly recommend attending one of her lectures to see her personality come through.
But when I saw the movie trailer for Eat, Pray, Love it made me want to revisit the book and curl up in its pages. It makes me want to visit Italy to feast (again), head to India with Kimberly Wilson and Darren Main to pray and practice yoga, and Bali to fall even deeper in love with l'homme. There is a line in the trailer where Julia Roberts says "I used to have an appetite for my life and now it's gone." I hope to always have an appetite for my learning full of learning, traveling, feasting, yoga practicing, being kind, and remembering that this is the only life I get.
I've cleared my calendar for Friday, August 13 so I can take in this movie in all its splendor with the one I love the most – me, myself and I. I already know the movie will leave out certain parts of the book, but this traveler can't wait to see all the gorgeous locations where they shot the movie.
Have a beautiful yoga filled weekend. I'm attending a Yoga and Wine Workshop and can't wait to tell ya'll how it went.
Fashion Week held my very first red carpet experience. It was for the launch of Hilfiger – Tommy Hilfiger’s latest men’s fragrance. Thank goodness the rain finally stopped that day. Here I am with Erika being super star struck. I didn’t want to turn away from the hotness that is Ed Westwick "Chuck Bass" of Gossip Girl.
A huge MWAH to Ali Ro for the gorgeous flowy fuchsia top. I’m going on a search next weekend for another Ali Ro piece. I must have some more in my wardrobe. GlossyPink thanks for the photo darlin’! I love Gossip Girl and this opportunity was so much fun. I can’t wait for the next time I get on the carpet.
According to Variety, Lifetime is putting its best face on for a potential companion series to its soon-to-be-acquired Project Runway. The reality show called "Blush: The Search for America’s Greatest Makeup Artist" will be produced by IMG Entertinment.
"Blush" will follow eight aspiring makeup mavens as they compete for the grand prize of a one-year contract as a professional makeup artist with Max Factor, $100,000 in cash and a shot at doing the makeup for a major glossy magazine cover shoot. Contestants will live together in Los Angeles and engage in weekly elimination competitions.
Hooray for Hollywood! It’s that time. My wine glass is full with a great Rioja, the hors oeuvre’s are set – a really great (charcuterie) salami and prosciutto, (frommage) – swiss elemental and a triple cream Brie, with additions of jalapeno stuffed olives, almonds, cashews, and lavender chocolate.
Here are my picks for Oscar worthy pretty. Everyone played it safe. Which worked for me, but seemed a little off. Maybe it was the rush of the writer’s strike ending. Although I was not blown away by anyone, a lot of people looked nice:
I like the huge and unusual neckline of Heidi Klum’s Galliano dress.
Anne Hathaway in Marchesa. I really love that dress.
Ruby Dee in Kevin Hall. She looks wonderful and absolutely flawless. This is truly what aging gracefully should look like.
I love the color of Kelly Preston’s Roberto Cavalli dress.
Amy Adams just looked okay in Proenza Schouler.
Jennifer Garner looked nice in her Oscar de la Renta, but was in complete and utter shock when Gary Busey kissed her on the neck. Gross.
Miley Cyrus looks age appropriate in Valentino.
Jessica Alba in Marchesa. Pretty, but I need a necklace.
Cameron Diaz in Dior and Bvlgari jewels. Forget the dress, the jewelry was in insane.
Marion Cotillard fabulous in Gaultier. Robert Vetica of Frederic Fekkai did the hair, me loves a lot. He used Coiff Shape, Set Miss, Magnifique Finishing Cream, and Coiff Fini Sheer Hold Hairspray. I really loved this dress. It was completely different and one of the few risks on the red carpet.
Katherine Heigl in red Escada. As always, Hollywood glamour at its best. She made me want to pick up some hot air rollers and start playing.
Jennifer Hudson. I loved the white on the red carpet.
I think we have all waited long enough for the red carpet. I need the networks, film, or whatever is stopping the shows, jobs, and the like – to come to an agreement. Give the writers what they need, want, and deserve so I can have my red carpet back. I’m done fussing. Here’s to the people who rocked my world at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
I couldn’t imagine watching the red carpet without hors d’oeuvre. I have a wonderful little tray of olives stuffed with jalapenos, nuts, smoked Gouda cheese, and decadent mini quiches created by Taresa of Cook and Book. I met Taresa at a women’s writing group earlier today and I found another obsessed foodie. As we rhapsodized about food, wine, cookbooks, books, and all things food related I asked for a goodie bag to enjoy my evening. Thank you so much T.
SARA RAMIREZ. ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS – MY FAVORITE. The dress [simple and elegant], skin, makeup,
earrings [too-die-for], and rest of the jewelry was just perfect
and the right amount.
Chandra Wilson. I so love Miranda Baily on Grey’s Anatomy. I LO-LO-V-E her, but the Diana Ross a la Supremes outfit is just not rocking my world. She’s from Houston and I hate to be saying this.
Christina Applegate. Very pretty.
Deborah Messing. The Oscar de la Renta dress is perfection to me.
Eva Longoria Parker. I loved the Naeem Khan dress and the earrings. I love her hair down, so the up-do wasn’t my favorite. I need to find her makeup artist because I love her red carpet makeup.
Tina Fey. I loved the Lorraine Schwartz bracelets and the stilettos need to be on my feet
Terry Hatcher. I loved the Badgley Mischka dress.
America Ferrera. Lovely in Monique Lhuillier.
Vanessa L. Williams. Consistently elegant.
I am convinced that I need some Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.
I want to say a big Merci Beaucoup and Mwah to "The Don." This man sat so patiently, completely ignoring me, as I screamed and yelled at the red carpet arrivals. Thank goodness for Wi-Fi. As I proceeded to go "honey, give me a call" at the bad dresses, he just shook his head laughing.
UPDATE: CONGRATULATIONS TO CHRISTIE, ANGELA, AND CHANEL FOR THE CORRECT ANSWERS: a CLOVER and JAY AS THE DESIGNER. PLEASE EMAIL ME DIRECTLY YOUR MAILING ADDRESS.

Heidi Klum designs a jewelry line featuring what symbol and which Project Runway designer designed a dress based on it for her?
